UPDATE: Storm Could Affect Early Voting That Begins Saturday

UPDATE (3:07 p.m.)-If storms from Hurricane Sandy hit Maryland, it could affect early voting that's set for Saturday through Thursday.

According to a news release from Gov. Martin O'Malley, the election law allows for postponing early voting during a state of emergency, or it could change the voting locations or voting systems.

O'Malley declared a state of emergency on Friday, in anticipation of the storm.

"The Governor’s Office and the Maryland Emergency Management Agency are actively monitoring weather developments in order to determine whether changes to the early voting schedule may be necessary to protect public safety," it states.

However, early voting will continue as scheduled until further notice.

Voters can avoid the Election Day lines Nov. 6 by voting early, beginning Sat., Oct. 27.

Early voting begins Oct. 27, which is the second Saturday before the election, and runs through Thurs., Nov. 1.

Voters can cast their early vote in person from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday through Thursday, or from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the following places, according to the Baltimore County website:

  Dundalk, MD 21222
