Closures Planned for Liberty Road/I-695 Ramps

SHA announces overnight closures and lane closures April 3-6 for bridge work on the I695/MD26 Bridge replacement project.

The State Highway Administration plans to temporarily close and detour ramps at I-695 and Liberty Road on the nights of April 3-6.

On those nights, expect overnight closures and traffic stops while workers install structural steel for the I-695/MD 26 Bridge replacement project, according to an SHA news release.

The closures and traffic stoppages will begin at 7 p.m. April 3.

Following are details for those nights:

  • 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.—Right-lane closures along the inner and outer loop of I-695.
  • 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.—Closure and detour at Exit 18B ramp from I-695 north (Beltway Inner Loop) to Liberty Road west. Detour Route: I-695 north past Exit 19, I-795 (Northwest Expressway) to Exit 20, MD 140 (Reisterstown Road), through the interchange to I-695 south, past Exit 19 back to Exit 18 and Liberty Road west.  

Liberty Road

  • 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.—Left-lane closures along Liberty Road east and west near the I-695 interchange.
  • 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.—Crews will periodically stop all traffic on both directions of Liberty Road at the interchange for up to 15 minutes at a time to move the steel beams into place over Liberty Road.

In case of inclement weather, the steel beam work and overnight lane closures and ramp detours will take place the week of April 10.
