Two Injured Among Three Crashes on Beltway

The three crashes involving 11 vehicles occurred on the Inner Loop between 795 and Reisterstown Road.

Two people were hospitalized Monday morning following early-morning crashes on the Inner Loop of I-695 in Pikesville, between I-795 and Reisterstown Road, according to a Baltimore County Fire Department official and a spokesman for the State Highway Administration.

The conditions of the injured were not available.

State Highway Administration spokesman David Buck said that there were three crashes, involving a total of 11 vehicles, all within that stretch of I-695.

A fire official said one patient was transported to Northwest Hospital in Randallstown by Medic 18 of the Randallstown station and another patient was taken to Sinai Hospital of Baltimore by Medic 3 of the Woodlawn station.

The SHA wwas alerted to the crashes at 6:10 a.m. by Maryland State Police, Buck said.

"Our driver arrived at around 6:20 a.m., and all of them (the crashes) were together—three seperate, unique crashes," he said.

It was unclear whether the crashes were related, Buck added.

Officials at the State Police Golden Ring Barracks could not be reached for comment.

At 6:25 a.m., the SHA had closed all three lanes of the inner loop, Buck said. By 7 a.m., the left lane was open, and all were opened by 7:22 a.m.
