Police: Homicide Victims' Grandson Not a Suspect

Police want to question Matthew Long in death of his grandparents, Sudbrook residents Vaughn George Pepper and Marjorie Marie Pepper, but say he's not a suspect at this time.

The Baltimore County Police Department wants to speak with Matthew Long, the 31-year-old grandson of an elderly Sudbrook Park couple who were found dead in their home Monday.

"We are looking for the grandson for questioning," said Baltimore County Police Department spokeswoman Julia Hargrove.

Long had been living with the Peppers, but is now missing.

Pikesville precinct police found the Peppers, both in their 80s, dead in their Olmstead Road home.

Each had suffered traumatic wounds. There were no signs of forced entry into their home, police said.

The Peppers were longtime members of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Pikesville, according to Margaret Cassady, who answered the phone at the church Wednesday.

While she didn't know them personally, she said a Eucharistic minister and one of the deacons had been visiting the Peppers regularly.

"They weren't able to get to church much. Not in recent times," she said of the Peppers, noting that the church has not received any funeral information.
