Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company, Red Cross, Help at Owings Mills Fire

This marks the latest call in a busy week for the PVFC, and the 30th disaster since July 1 for the Red Cross of Central Maryland.

The Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company helped at the scene of the that damaged 14 apartment units Tuesday.

The helped put out the fire in several units, located on Old Coach Road, helped a firefighter who suffered a heat emergency, and more. Visit the PVFC website for details.

The Red Cross of Central Maryland also helped at the Owings Mills fire by supplying 12 families with necessities, according to a news release.

On Tuesday night, several local Red Cross volunteers were on the scene of the massive apartment fire, and gave residents food, clothing, comfort kits and bedding, the release states.

Also that day, other Red Cross workers from the chapter provided temporary shelter for residents affected by a single-family house fire in Baltimore City on Homestead Street.

In Pasadena and in Westminster, volunteers helped residents affected by two more single-family home fires. Emergency shelter and other assistance was offered to these families as well.

Since July 1, the Red Cross has helped more than 180 central Maryland residents at 30 separate disasters, the release states.
