UPDATE: Pikesville Lieutenant To Be Promoted to Captain

UPDATE (12:28 p.m.)—Lt. Jay Landsman of the Baltimore County Police Department will be promoted to captain during a ceremony Friday morning, according to a news release Thursday from the Pikesville precinct.

Landsman was a sergeant when he came to the precinct in January of 2006—when the precinct first opened.

He was promoted to lieutenant in July 2006.

The ceremony for those being promoted and their families will take place at 10 a.m. at the Fasig-Tipton Pavilion at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium.

County Executive Kevin Kamenetz and Police Chief Jim Johnson will present  certificates to the newly promoted, the release states.

Baltimore County Police Chaplain Pastor Cameron Giovanelli will deliver the invocation and the benediction, the release states. The honorable Julie Ensor, clerk of the Baltimore County Circuit Court, will administer the oath of office.

Landsman begins his new assignment Monday as a captain in the department's Criminal Investigations Division in Towson.

"I'm excited to go back to investigative work," he said Thursday.

Landsman said his replacement will be Sgt. William A. Lally II, who is being promoted Friday to lieutenant.

Lally is moving to the Pikesville precinct from the CID in Towson, Landsman said.
