Pikesville Resident Gets Three Years for Child Pornography

U.S. Attorney's Office: More than 600 images of children, some under the age of 12, engaged in sexually explicit acts were found on Dagoberton Castaneda's computers.

A Pikesville man was sentenced Friday to three years in federal prison for possessing child pornography, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Maryland.

Dagoberton Castaneda, 33, who is also a citizen of El Salvador will also have 10 years of supervised release and could be deported following his prison term, the release said.

Under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, Castaneda must register as a sex offender in the place where he resides, where he's employed, and where he's a student, the release states.
 
"According to the plea agreement, on Feb. 28, 2011 an undercover Baltimore County detective downloaded three video files and a shared folder from Castaneda’s computer file sharing programs," the release states.

On March 15, 2011 a search warrant as executed and a laptop and desktop computer and their hard drives were seized, according to the release.

More than 600 images of minors, including some under age 12, were found "engaged in sexually explicit conduct," it states.

Castandeda had done file sharing for a long time, including hundreds of uploads and downloads, prosecutors said.

This case was part of Project Safe Childhood and Operation Predator, to protect children from sexual predators.
