Pikesville Crime: Resident Thwarts Burglary with Light

The following information was supplied by the Baltimore County Police Department's Pikesville Precinct. In cases where a criminal charge is noted, it does not indicate a conviction.

A woman reportedly scared a burglar away from her house by turning on lights.

At about 10:30 p.m. Friday, a resident of the unit block of Salem Court in Pikesville woke up to a banging noise. After she turned on the lights and went downstairs, the noise stopped.

An hour later she saw that a window had been broken, and there were boot marks on the door.

Pikesville

Copperbend Drive. 6900 block. Between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday. A resident found a basement window was broken, and an iPad and Burberry luggage were stolen.

Lowell Drive. 4100 block. Between 1 p.m. and 1:34 p.m. Friday. A house alarm went off, so a resident came home and found part of her back door broken. No one got in the house, however.

Lowell Drive. 4100 block. Between 7:49 a.m. and 4:05 p.m. Friday. A burglar kicked open a rear, locked door of a different house on Lowell Drive. Missing were an iPod, a Nook tablet, cash and two rings.

Breton Hill Road. Unit block. Between 7 a.m. March 5 and midnight March 6. A burglar stole a laptop, cufflinks and two rings. There was no forced entry, and "It's possible that a key was used," the report states.

Breton Hill Road. Unit block. Between 11:30 a.m. March 4 and 7:39 p.m. March 6. A burglar may have used a key to get into another apartment on Breton Hill Road. Stolen were an iPad and four rings.
