Pikesville Crime: Man Arrested for Allegedly Casing Homes To Burgle

A man who was allegedly checking houses in northwest Baltimore City and in Pikesville was arrested May 15.

According to a Baltimore County police report, Joseph Rico Johnson, 47, of the 1100 block of Carey Street in the Sandtown-Winchester area of Baltimore, was charged with fourth-degree burglary.

Johnson "was followed from Baltimore City, checking windows and doors and peering into houses,"  a police news release stated. "He came into the county and made the same attempts."

Witnesses saw him looking into houses on Marnat Road, Seven Mile Lane and Labyrinth Road, said Det. Cathy Batton.

He was charged with fourth-degree burglary in connection with two county homes: one in the 3100 block of Labyrinth Road, and one in the 3300 block of Marnat Road, according to police reports.

Witnesses said he was allegedly "looking in rear windows and attempting to slide open rear windows," Batton said.

The Baltimore County Police Department is looking into whether Johnson is connected to other burglaries in the area, she said.

Johnson is being held in the Baltimore County Detention Center, according to court records.
