Pikesville Chamber Awards Community, Business

What do a Pikesville High School student, a volunteer, a real estate developer and a certified nursing assistant have in common?

They're all recipients of 2012 awards from the .

On Tuesday, the chamber honored businesses, schools and community members during its annual Business and Community Awards Breakfast, held at .

Among the honorees was Larry Frank, vice president of The Catering People in Owings Mills. He received the Robert Horn Memorial Volunteer Award.

Frank handles some of the big events for the chamber, including the Pikesville 5K, and often donates food from his business, according to the chamber.

"He has been more than generous with his personal time ... and the chamber could not have earned the reputation as the race with the "best post-race breakfast" without him," said Gigi Barnett, an anchor with WJZ-TV, who was master of ceremonies Tuesday.

Frank and other honorees were congratulated by County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, county council Chairwoman Vicki Almond, chamber President Steve Cohen, and chamber Executive Director Jessica Normington, as well as by Barnett.

The event was sponsored by North Oaks.

• School Program of the Year: Summit Park Elementary School's fourth-grade community service project at the Baltimore Rescue Mission.
