Hybrid Car Catches Fire at Social Security Administration

The car battery melted, so officials with the Maryland Department of Environment were called to the scene.

The Baltimore County Fire Department and the Maryland Department of the Environment responded this morning to a car fire at the Social Security Administration.

At 9:33 a.m., the fire department received the call for the fire at the US Social Security Headquarters, 6401 Security Blvd. in Woodlawn, according to fire officials.

Turns out, a hybrid automobile caught fire at level B of the high-rise parking garage. The battery melted, so they had to call in the MDE, the official said.

No one was hurt, and no one was in the vehicle at the time of the fire.

As of 11:18 a.m., Baltimore County Fire Department officials were still at the scene.
