Fire Damages Randallstown Apartment Buildings

Several dozen people displaced early Sunday.

A two-alarm fire damaged 24 units in two Randallstown apartment buildings early Sunday, a fire official said.

According to a statement by Lt. Paul Massarelli of the Baltimore County Fire Rescue Academy, the blaze began at about 12:37 a.m. at 8504 Glen Michael Lane.

It then spread to a second building, 8506. Both buildings were evacuated.

The fire began on the third floor and spread to the attic of both buildings, according to the statement. "The fire was contained to one apartment and the attic, with water damage to the rest of the building," it said.

No injuries were reported, and the fire was under control at 2:22 a.m.

The apartment management company and the American Red Cross helped residents relocate.

About 32 pieces of apparatus and 100 personnel helped at the scene. Smoke detectors alerted residents to the fire, police said.
