Drinking Binge Ends in Attempted Murder Charges

A night of drinking turned violent between friends and ended with one man facing attempted murder charges.

Andrey Safronov, 39, is charged with first-degree assault and first-degree attempted murder after he allegedly held a knife to the throat of a friend, according to Baltimore County police.

Safronov was drinking in his apartment, located in the unit block of Cobblestone Court in Pikesville, with his friend shortly before 8 p.m. Friday, according to police.

Circumstances around the alleged assault were not immediately known but police said Safronov held the knife to the throat of his guest. That man suffered cuts to his right hand when he attempted to defend himself and grabbed the knife blade.
