Crime Alert: Thefts from Automobiles in Quarry Heights

The Baltimore County Police Department's Pikesville precinct warns residents of a crime trend.

Baltimore County police warn residents that unlocked vehicles in Quarry Heights are being targeted by thieves.

Since this past weekend, burglars have come into the community overnight, have rummaged through unlocked vehicles and have stolen items such as cash, laptop computers, iPods and sunglasses, according to a crime trend alert Tuesday from the Pikesville Precinct.

Thefts have occurred on Stone Cliff Drive, Granite Ridge Court, Willwood Court, and Stream Crossing Road, according to the alert. Police are patrolling the area.

"Please be vigilant of suspicious subjects or vehicles roaming or traveling through the neighborhoods," the alert states.  If you notice suspicious activity, safely get a good description of the subjects and contact 911 or the non emergency line at 410-887-2222.

During one incident, a burglar found a garage door opener in a vehicle, and used it to get into the garage.

Because of this, police remind residents to lock vehicles "and secure all valuables including garage door openers in the trunk or inside your residence," the alert states.
