'Baltimore Birdman' Charged with Sexual Offenses Against Minor

A former Baltimore County firefighter and the self-described "Baltimore Birdman" has been charged in the sexual abuse of a teenage family member between the years 2005 and 2008.

Gregory Hudnet, a resident of the 18200 block of Foreston Road, formerly a captain with the Baltimore County Fire Department, was arrested Thursday, according to a news release from Baltimore County police.

The victim was in his or her early teens at the time of the alleged abuse, the release states. The victim reported on Aug. 22 that the abuse occurred at various locations throughout the county.

Detectives investigated and on Wednesday got a warrant charging him with sexual abuse of a minor, third-degree sex offense, and sexual abuse of a minor-continuing course of conduct, it states. Hudnet surrendered Wednesday night, posted $750,000 bail and was released.

Hudnet told detectives that he is known as the "Baltimore Birdman." Hudnet has been profiled on Patch and other news outlets for his outlandish outfits and his work on classic cars decorated in honor of the Orioles and Ravens.

He retired from the department in 2008, the release states.
