The Alvin & Lois Lapidus Cancer Institute at LifeBridge Health’s Survivors Day Tea Suits Attendees to a T!

Lots of laughter and joy, as well as petits fours, cupcakes and tea were on the menu at the recent Alvin & Lois Lapidus Cancer Institute at LifeBridge Health’s annual Survivors Day event, which was a high tea this year.

Staff from the Lapidus Cancer Institute hosted about 150 current and former patients and their guests in the Zamoiski Auditorium at Sinai Hospital to celebrate life and their unique journeys of survivorship, which begin at the moment of diagnosis.

Both women and men wore their finest or silliest hats as part of a Best Hats contest. There was also a raffle of goodie baskets donated by forty businesses and individuals.

Speakers included W. Bradford Carter, the medical director of the Lapidus Cancer Institute, and Helen Friedman, whose organization, the Edward J. Friedman Foundation, Inc., generously supports many efforts through the Ed Friedman Patient Assistance Fund at Sinai Hospital.

Dan Morhaim, M.D., a delegate from the 11th District in the Maryland General Assembly and a former Sinai physician, brought an official state citation congratulating the Lapidus Cancer Institute on its Survivors Day celebration.

In addition to tea and sweet treats, the Survivors Day attendees also enjoyed the music of the Buckmaster String Trio, and Miss Maryland Teen was on hand to greet everyone.

At the end of the afternoon, every person was invited to take home the teacup and saucer he or she had used. Employees donated the teacups so that survivors would always know that they have a part of their “LifeBridge Health family” with them in their own homes.

A special thank you was shared with the many volunteers who made the afternoon possible and included the children and grandchildren of employees, as well as the employees, themselves.

LifeBridge Health is one of the largest, most comprehensive providers of health services in Maryland. In addition to Sinai, it also includes Northwest Hospital, Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital, Courtland Gardens Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, and related subsidiaries and affiliates.
