LETTER: Boys Lacrosse Team Looks Forward to Continued Growth

Pikesville High School varsity lacrosse fans Casey and Mitchell Parson give an update on the boys team season in a Letter to the Editor.

Following is the letter to the editor submitted by Casey and Mitchell Parson:

This year has brought many changes to the varsity lacrosse team.

Not only did the team get a new set of coaches after more than ten years, they also had to rebuild following the graduation of most of their starting line-up.

Head Coach Jack Rose and assistant Coach Nick Funk spent a significant portion of this season trying to develop the players who came to the team with little to no experience.

Controlling the offense this year was returning starter, sophomore, Jory Parson.  At this point in the season, Jory has accumulated 28 goals with support from sophomores Jesse Fidel and Zack Miller.

The mid-field has a solid group of players with returning seniors Niv Gafny and Mitch Fine, and returning junior, Travon Wright. The defense this year has been anchored by returning seniors, Aaron Linkoff, Devin Pack and Dennis Brown.

Returning sophomore Matt Kirshner has quarter-backed the defense with his outstanding goal-tending.

This year has been a learning process. Unfortunately, their record reflects the youth and inexperience of the team. By all accounts, the team has played with a lot of heart and set the ground-work for an excellent future.
