Here's What's Going on This Weekend

Run a 5K, or learn about home safety, movies, religion and photography.

Let learning be the theme of this weekend in Pikesville and the Baltimore area, where you'll find events teaching home safety, religion, films and photography.

But if you prefer to stretch your legs and exercise your body instead of your mind, there's an 8K and 5K to be run.

Where/When: from 12:45-1:45 p.m. Friday

Why Go: Come to this one-hour information session and learn tips and tricks on how to make your home safer.

Pricing: Free
 

 

Where/When: , 4-6 p.m. Saturday

Why Go: Get together with other members of the community at this informal study time that includes refreshments and other activities.

Pricing: Free
 

 

Where/When: , from 5:30-10 p.m. Saturday

Why Go: Members vote on which film to watch each month and then after it's shown, they discuss it. Genres include science fiction, fantasy, horror and mystery. Everyone is welcome.

Pricing: Annual dues: $25/person or $40/couple
 

 

Where/When: , at 8 a.m. Sunday

Why Go: Run the 8K or run or walk the 5K. It doesn't matter which one you choose: just get up and get moving! Proceeds from the day will go toward breast and testicular cancer education programs.

Pricing: Advance: $35, race day: $40

 

Where/When: Outside the Pier 5 parking garage at 55 Market Place, Baltimore; 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday

Why Go: It doesn't matter how old you are or what experience you have! Join your fellow photographers and learn more about the art of taking pictures. Bring some money because the group will be stopping for lunch.
