Meet Larisa
Larisa started with Advanced Physical Therapy two weeks ago as our new physical therapy assistant (PTA). Larisa has stepped up to help with the busy schedule and sees many patients a day. The patients trust and really enjoy working with her.
Larisa started out as a physical therapist aide in 1990 and decided to go to Baltimore City Community College. She graduated as a PTA in 1994. Larisa has over 18 years of experience, in both hospital and outpatient; however, she prefers outpatient.
Larisa is a caring PTA and she enjoys helping her patients. “My favorite part is to help them and to be able to see the progress from when they come in to when they are discharged," she said. "Patients come in with pain on their faces and leave with smiles. That is what makes the job worth it.”
Larisa believes that physical therapy not only helps the patients physically but mentally. Working through injuries helps boost the self-esteem of the patients.
She joined Advanced Physical Therapy for many reasons.
First, the two Physical Therapist and owners of Advanced Physical Therapy, Leo Gorner and Diana Pliner, have been teaching her to grow as a PTA. She feels that she has a lot to learn and more knowledge to gain and these mentors’, knowledge and experience will help her grow. Secondly, she feels that she grow along with the expanding practice and make her mark.
