Pet Memorial Ceremony Set for Sunday in Reisterstown

Celebrate the life of your pet on Sept. 9 during the Pet Memorial Ceremony.

Nicodemus Memorial Park is holding the ceremony at the Baltimore Humane Society during National Pet Memorial Day.

This event is for anyone who has experienced the loss of a beloved pet and the overwhelming grief that comes with it, according to a news release from the Baltimore Humane Society.

The society "Takes the loss of a pet seriously," the release states, noting that this is a time for pet owners to find some comfort, and possibly closure.

Andrew Mazan, Nicodemus Memorial Park director and certified bereavement counselor, will lead the ceremony.

Portrait artist Joanna Barnum, will create quick pencil sketches from owners' photos for a nominal fee. Sketches will be shared with the Baltimore Humane Society.

Please bring a photo of your pet and a flower to display during the ceremony.
