MECU to Hold Branch Grand Opening in Commercentre

MECU, Baltimore's Credit Union, will hold a grand opening for its newest branch, located in Pikesville.

The branch, at Commercentre business park is MECU's ninth branch and its third in Baltimore County, according to a news release from MECU.

Herman Williams Jr., chairman of the board of directors, and CEO Bert J. Hash, Jr., and other dignitaries will cut the ribbon on the business.

According to the release, guests include Vicki Almond, Baltimore County councilwoman for District 2, and Ken Oliver, councilman for District 4.

The opening ceremony is part of MECU's 75th anniversary ceremonies.

Anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Baltimore City, or who is a relative of someone who qualifies to be a member, or who works at one of more than 400 partner organizations, can be a member of the credit union, the release states.

It's a member-owned, not-for-profit organization with nearly 100,000 members, it states.

According to the release, members can get:

  • free checking with a free debit card
  • auto build CDs that let members add to a CD while earning a higher interest rate than a savings account
  • low-cost mortgage and auto loans.
  • annual cash bonuses
