Step Out to Stop Diabetes Walk – Sinai Team

It’s a great time of year to get outside and exercise! The weather is perfect for a walk or a run. What makes it even better is that when you put on your tennis shoes, you can also “lend a foot” to those who need you.

Team Sinai would appreciate your help at the American Diabetes Association’s annual Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes on Saturday, October 5. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the walk program begins at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 9:30 a.m.

You can take part by joining our team and walking the 5K (less than three miles) that day or by donating to one of our members. Additionally, LifeBridge Health employees will learn 50 LiveWell points for their participation.

This is also a wonderful way to help fund research to prevent, manage and cure this disease, which affects nearly 26 million people in the United States. In addition, it’s estimated that 179 million Americans have pre-diabetes.

Sinai’s team captain shared her personal experience. “I was a podiatry student in Philadelphia when I first realized the importance of diabetes education. Too many people had to have their legs amputated because of this disease so I decided to devote my career to learning about diabetes and helping people avoid the complications associated with it,” explains Rosalyn Marcus, DPM, RN, CDE, coordinator of the Diabetes Resource Center at Sinai.
