Donor Registry Drive 'Smile for Shira'

As part of Community Mitzvah Day on December 25th, Jewish Volunteer Connection will conduct a donor registry recruitment drive with Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation.

Shira Klein, a loving wife and mother of 3 has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and is in need of a blood stem cell transplant.

Her best chance of finding a match is with donors of similar genetic ancestry, particularly Eastern European.  Other patients of many backgrounds are also hoping to find a matching donor and receive a life saving transplant.

A simple cheek swab is all it takes to join the registry; participants must be between the ages of 18 - 60!

Gift of Life has helped over 2,500 children and adults suffering from leukemia, lymphoma, other cancers and genetic disorders find matching donors for blood and marrow transplants since being founded over twenty years ago.
