Community College Will Open to Students in July

The Community College of Baltimore County held a ribbon cutting ceremony at its new campus at the Metro Centre at Owings Mills Monday morning.

Starting in July, students will be able to complete an associate’s degree without having to leave Owings Mills.

The Community College of Baltimore County, which will open its Owings Mills campus to students on July 8, marked the occasion with a ribbon cutting Friday morning.

“The new Owings Mills site has been a gleam in CCBC’s eye for a really long time,” said CCBC President Sandra Kurtinitis.

The community college will share a six-story building with Baltimore County’s largest public library branch, which occupies the first two floors. The community college will share the third floor, and feature 17 classrooms, 12 computer labs, three training rooms and science, art and culinary labs on the fourth, fifth and sixth floors.

The 120,000 square-foot building, called the County Campus Building, is one of many future openings at the Metro Centre at Owings Mills, a transit-oriented development situated in the heart of Owings Mills.

When fully developed, the Metro Centre will feature more than 1.2 million square feet of office space, 300,000 square feet of retail and restaurants, 1,700 residential units and a hotel with 250 rooms.

“Every time I visit here I get more excited about what’s happening,” said County Executive Kevin Kamenetz.
