Stand by as Maryland's newest and largest casino gets ready to open its doors

Maryland's newest and largest casino is very close to opening.  So save your nickels and dimes.

The MarylandLive! Casino at Arundel Mills is putting the finishing touches on what will ultimately be a casino with 4,750 slot machines.

That's the final figure when the second phase is complete. Initially about 3,200 slots will be available. This is said to be the largest opening of a casino in the country.

It will be about the length of three football fields with 1500 employees.  That's quite a number of people to employ. There will also be five food and beverage outlets. They are Bobby's Burger Palace, Cheesecake Factory, Phillips, Live Market and The Prime Rib.

For entertainment Rams Head will be opening in late July.

In advance of the opening, the casino launched the gaming industry's first play for fun online casino, mylivecasino.com. This is a free website that allows gaming folks to play their favorite slots games, win virtual credits, compete in online tournaments and sign up early for the Live! Rewards players card.

The architects are Klai Juba from Las Vegas, interior designers Cleo Design Corp from Las Vegas. Estimates are for the casino to generate more than $400 million in tax frevenue per year.

Hours will be Sunday through Thursday 8 am to 2 am and Friday and Saturday 8 am to 4 am. The entire facility was developed by The Cordish Companies, based in Baltimore.
