'Flashdance' Is High Energy, Incredible

"Flashdance" at the Hippodrome, offers amazing dancing during shows, through Sunday.

Watching those talented dancers onstage actually made me exhausted.

What high energy it was, kind of reminded me of the movie title Fast and Furious.

The show is Flashdance, now playing through Sunday, Feb. 17, at The Hippodrome in Baltimore.

I'm telling you, the dancing is incredible, and not just the two leads of Alex and Nick, but to be sure, Emily Padgett as Alex, with Broadway experience, is out-of-sight outstanding.

The play is based on the very popular 1983 film, has added 16 new songs and will open on Broadway in August.

if you remember the film, you'll remember songs like Maniac, Gloria, I Love Rock and Roll, and, of course, the title song.

The story is set in Pittsburgh, and is based around Alex who works by day in a steel mill, but at night is a bar dancer with aspirations of becoming a professional dancer.

Romance blossoms when she falls for her boss.

Then there's the audition at a dance academy to contend with.

But the storyline is tied together by the dancing and songs.

Flashdance is playing here only through Sunday. Performances are at 8 p.m. each evening, with matinees Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

For tickets, call 410-547-SEAT, or visit online at Broadway Across America.
