Eddie's Restaurant Guide: Inspired Italian Cuisine in Little Italy

Find classically inspired Italian cuisine in Baltimore's Little Italy at the corner of Eastern & President.

Standing at the doorway of Little Italy you'll find Della Notte, 801 Eastern Avenue.

This is a restaurant I've visited many times and never had a bad meal. It serves classically inspired Italian cuisine in a very elegant atmosphere. One interesting element is a tree in the middle of the dining room. And somehow it doesn't seem out of place.

Della Notte is open seven days for lunch and dinner. You'll find nightly specials like the popular grilled center cut veal rib chop. For examples of dinner entrees, I offer you the calarari di saltati (sauteed squid) or the cappasante in padella (pan seared sea scallops).  Of course the menu is filled with many more Italian dishes.

The restaurant is locally owned, which for me is a big deal.

The daily operation is handled by Rita, the general manager. The dress code is described as casual, there's complimentary parking on their own lot, reservations are strongly suggested on weekends and holidays and the restaurant has been the recipient of many awards.

Two of them are the Award of Excellence given by Distinguised Restaurants of North America and the 3 Star Award presented by the Mobil Travel Guide.

The lounge is available for small, private parties and it's where you'll find live entertainment Friday and Saturday nights. The dining room by the way can serve as a location for a business or social function for 20 to 250 people.
