Red Cross Has Busy Memorial Day Weekend

While most people were enjoying Memorial Day picnics with loved ones, Red Cross of Central Maryland volunteers were hard at work assisting local residents who were victims of disasters.

While most people were enjoying Memorial Day picnics with loved ones, Red Cross of Central Maryland volunteers were hard at work assisting local residents who were victims of disasters.

On Friday the Red Cross was assisting a family on West George Street in Westminster when a tree fell on their house.

On Sunday night the Red Cross was called to the 1600 block of North Hilton Street in Baltimore when fire overtook a ten-unit apartment building.

Last night volunteers responded to a home fire on Kleis Road in Severna Park. In all cased the Red Cross provided the families with shelter, food, clothing, emotional counseling and other much needed help.

Meanwhile, local Red Crossers are still on the ground in Joplin, Missouri, and in Alabama helping disaster victims.
