My name is Cheryl and I am addicted to handbags.

Ok, I have finally said it.

Does it embarrass me to admit to this addiction? Yes and no. I have never robbed a bank, stolen money from my children's bank accounts or worse yet stolen a purse.

Why then does this embarrass me you ask? I will tell you. Every time I walk into a store I gravitate to the handbag department. I literally stare into the glass showcases of the more expensive and designer bags. Yes...the designer bags are my "drug of choice"...sad but sooo true!

Words like Louis Vuitton, Coach, Channel, Dooney & Bourke, Hermes, Fendi, Michael Kors etc. make my heart beat rapidly and put a smile on my face.

Take today for instance....I am sittting In Starbucks, drinking coffee with friends. For every woman that has walked in...I have to see what kind of handbag she is carrying. Is that normal? Ummm...no.

Now you probably as how can I afford them? Well....my years of buying "just because" have now been diminished due to economic problems.

The people in my life have aided me in this addiction.

Are they considered enablers?

Am I the only one that has this problem? I just know there are more of you. Come out of the "closet" and let me know. We can share this together.

Is there a 12 step program for this?
