Northwest Hospital President Dedicates Rose for Donate Life Float in Rose Parade

For most people, the mention of the Rose Parade conjures up memories of beautiful floats, marching bands, family time and, of course, the annual Rose Bowl game.

For Brian White, president of Northwest Hospital and senior vice president of LifeBridge Health, this year’s parade has a special meaning. White was honored to accept a request from the Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland to dedicate a rose that will be part of the Donate Life float in the January 1st Rose Parade. The float pays tribute to organ and tissue donors and their loved ones.

White wrote a personal message of hope and remembrance in support of organ, eye and tissue donations.

This year’s Donate Life float design is a dedication garden made up of thousands of roses, each with a unique message, like the one White wrote, from hospitals around the county.

Riders who will be on the float during the parade have received transplants; walkers will be living kidney donors; and there will be “floragraph” of portraits memorializing donors who have passed away.

In Maryland, more than 2,600 people are waiting for life-saving transplants now. Nationwide, that number exceeds 120,000. Northwest Hospital supports the Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland in its mission to facilitate organ and tissue transplants and to educate the public about this effort.
