GBMC Selects Director of Marketing

GBMC HealthCare has named Gregory P. Shaffer as its new Director of Marketing and Government Relations.  Shaffer had been serving as Interim Director of Marketing since February 2014.

In his new role, Shaffer will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic marketing and communications plans for GBMC HealthCare.

"We are pleased to announce Gregory Shaffer as our Director of Marketing and Government Relations," said John W. Ellis, Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Business Development for GBMC HealthCare.  "During his time here, Greg has always demonstrated a 'can do' attitude and was instrumental in the development of our web strategy and social media plan, which is second to none in the Baltimore health care market. We look forward to having Greg help us in our continuing mission to grow our market and increase our communication capabilities to our physicians, employees and patients."

Prior to his role as Interim Director, Shaffer served as Manager of E-communications and Government Relations for GBMC, where he was responsible for leading the marketing of the hospital’s patient portal and oversaw GBMC’s web and social media initiatives leading to an increase in referrals over the last three years.

Shaffer is a graduate of the University of Maryland College Park with a degree in English.
