GBMC Appoints Executive Director of Oncology Services

Michael W. Stein, MHSA, CMPE, was recently named as Executive Director of oncology services at Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC).  He officially began his new role May 27.

Stein, along with Gary Cohen, M.D., Medical Director of GBMC’s Cancer Center, is responsible for the leadership and direction of the oncology service line.

Before joining GBMC, Stein was employed at LifeBridge Health (Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and Northwest Hospital) in several capacities.  Most recently, he served as director of Cancer Services at the Alvin & Lois Lapidus Cancer Institute (LCI) and prior to that, he was employed as the practice manager for the Brain & Spine Institute at LifeBridge Health.  Stein earned his bachelor’s degree at University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, P.A., and a master’s degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

“Michael has solid healthcare management experience that we believe will serve the Sandra & Malcolm Berman Cancer Institute at GBMC well in moving forward and will have a significant positive impact on our oncology service for both our patients and physicians,” said Keith Poisson, FACHE, and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Office at GBMC HealthCare.

Almost 2,000 individuals a year turn to the experts at The Sandra and Malcolm Berman Cancer Institute at GBMC when faced with potentially life-changing medical diagnoses.  Nationally and locally recognized, the Berman Cancer Institute is fully accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Oncology care is provided in a variety of settings including outpatient, inpatient, home care and hospice.
