What's New Along Reisterstown Road

Upgraded fuel pumps and tanks at Shell; Staples to open March 31; Woodholme Square gets replacement sign.

For now, there's no Staples in Pikesville as the store transitions to a new location.

But come Thursday, the national office-supply chain plans to open its new store in the Pikesville Shopping Center.

Just last month, staff members working at the old store at the corner of Reisterstown and Old Court roads said they planned to move into the new, larger and improved store by mid-March. But that hasn't happened, and a sign on the new store's door said it will open March 31.

This morning, stocking was still ongoing inside the new store, while outside numerous construction projects were in the works, including laying a new portion of concrete walkway.

The old Staples store and parking lot looks quite desolate now, but soon the site will bustle again as Walgreens begins constructing its own new store.

Shell Upgraded

The and service shop located at 1711 Reisterstown Road is getting upgrades and renovations, said cashier Jacey Cohen. It could reopen as early as Friday, April 1.

"We're upgrading the [fuel] tanks, upgrading the pumps and remodeling in here," Cohen said. The remodeling is in the convenience store, which now boasts new tile flooring and more.

"We're crossing our fingers for Friday," said Cohen, a Reisterstown resident.

Outside, contractors from petroleum contrator UST Services Corporation were digging up the earth and installing new equipment.

Meanwhile, the repair shop at Shell is still open.

Sign of renewal

Where the fallen sign for Woodholme Square once lay, now looms a tall, impressive replacement.

The main sign, situated at the corner of Reisterstown Road and Mt. Wilson Lane in Pikesville, was replaced March 28, several months after a multiple-car accident destroyed the original.

The shopping center boasts stores such as  and the new .
