Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Opens in Pikesville

New business opens on Hooks Lane despite problems from last weekend's storm.

The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Company dodged a few bullets and officially opened for business on Monday.

Owner Bob Ammon's company will be open from 6:30 a.m.-4 p.m. each day at its site on Hooks Lane. It opened Monday despite problems from this weekend's storm.

The business lost its electrical power after Friday's storm, but got it back around 4 a.m. Sunday. In addition, their food service company let them use a refrigerated truck to take care of the food while the power was out.

That helped them keep everything in place and be ready to go Monday.

"We were happy to have that [opening]," Ammon said. ""We were happy to acommodate people who might not have had power."

The store is 2,865 square feet, and was very busy the first day, which delighted Ammon.
