New Subway to Open Aug. 10 in Woodholme Square

David S. Brown Enterprises, Ltd., which does the leasing for the shopping center owners, said the new store is probably a bit larger than most.

The new Subway store now under construction in Woodholme Square in Pikesville is set to open Aug. 10, a spokesman for the landlord said.

"That's if everything goes as planned," said Ken Bernstein, landlord representative at David S. Brown Enterprises, Ltd., the company that does the leasing for Mt. Wilson Partnership, the company that owns the shopping center. Both companies are from Owings Mills.

Last week, Rob Wilson, public relations coordinator for Subway World Headquarters in Milford, CT, estimated the store would open in September.

The new store is located at 1866 Reisterstown Road, Suite 108, the location of a former pizza restaurant.

"I don't think it's your typical Subway," Bernstein said when asked if there is anything special about the new store. "It's probably a little bit larger."

There are 35,000 Subway restaurants in 98 countries worldwide, and each store is privately owned, Wilson said last week.

Bernstein said he does not have the name or other information about the new store's franchisee.

He expects the business to be successful, because the shopping center is successful overall. "Because it's a well-known franchise ... it's a draw," he said.

"With the new [frozen] yogurt store, and the Chinese restaurant, I think it's a good mix. It's always been a stable shopping center."

Correction: The original version of this story listed the wrong name of the David S. Brown Enterprises representative.
