Farmers Market Draws Early Traffic

New signs and good weather help the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce market get rolling Tuesday morning.

The had plenty of traffic right after it opened at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The market did brisk business. The Rabbit Hill Farm tent was loaded with produce and filled with customers asking questions, and customers perused the produce and other items at the Farm Girls Produce stand.

“It seems like all the markets we do—early in the busiest time,” said John Hilker of Rabbit Hill.

Market Manager Nick Attias of the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce said the good turnout might have something to do with the new signs the chamber has set up along Reisterstown Road and Naylors Lane.

Those signs direct motorists to the weekly market, held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each Tuesday through Oct. 25, at , 1630 Reisterstown Road.

The better weather also is making for a nice market day.

Throughout the summer, the market carried on through high heat and humidity. But Tuesday morning, the temperature was in the 70s, and everything was much cooler. At some vendors, people were in line for at least 30 minutes.

However, , the chamber's executive director, said she was disappointed that the market's newest vendor, Liberty Delight Farms of Reisterstown, did not make its debut today as planned.

By publication time, the vendor had not yet returned a phone call from Patch.

The market will be open until 2:30 p.m.
