Doctors Express Brings Urgent Care Option to Pikesville

When your primary physician is too busy, or it's after business hours, Doctors Express can be a cost-effective, time-saving option to get care quickly for non-life threatening emergencies.

The doctors are in at the new , providing, as the company's slogan states, “Urgent Care When You Need It.”

It's already accepting patients, but a grand opening celebration will be held March 26, featuring Baltimore Ravens' Cory Redding.

Located at 1860 Reisterstown Road, Suite A, the team of on-site physicians includes lead physician Dr. Erwin Aldana and staff physician Dr. Janet Little, as well as outside specialists who provide consultations as needed.

The office has multiple examination rooms and its own new X-ray machine and other equipment, all set in a clean and comfortable environment, said owner Connor J. Ferguson.

Doctors Express is taking a fresh approach to medical care, Ferguson said. It's open and available when you need a doctor but are not in a life-threatening situation, and it's right in the Pikesville community.

It's an alternative to waiting to get an appointment with a personal care physician, or heading to an emergency room, which can be costly and time-consuming.

“There are 40,000 people making unnecessary trips to the ER every year, and that’s just in northwest Baltimore County,” Ferguson said. “We are here to be Baltimore County’s more efficient alternative for urgent medical care.”

Overcrowded emergency rooms lead to inefficient medical care, increased expense to the hospitals and patients, and an overall lower quality of care, he added.

Ferguson said he's on a mission to educate people about this new and exciting option for urgent medical care. Doctors Express is “the nation’s first and only urgent care franchise network … with another 800 franchises to open during the next three years,” he said.

Ferguson and his team of skilled physicians invite you to visit Doctors Express for the grand opening, or at any time.

Doctors Express was originally founded in 2005 by Dr. Scott Burger of Towson “in response to the growing need for high-quality and convenient medical care in a warm, friendly environment," according to its website.

“Doctors Express relies on local expertise within the medical community. We want to be able to offer our patients access to the best specialists. We open doors to these specialists to people that might not otherwise know were available," Ferguson said.

The Pikesville office is the second in Baltimore County. There is a Doctors Express at 1220A E. Joppa Road in Towson, and another is set to open this summer at 2219 York Road in Timonium.

Doctors Express accepts most types of insurance, but it also treat patients who do not have insurance. Patients paying for their care out-of-pocket are offered a built-in discount based on their ability to pay.

"If you don’t have insurance, Doctors Express is the most economical way to get health care," Ferguson said.

The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Doctors Express is not a replacement for your primary care physician, nor is it a replacement for the emergency room in critical, life-threatening situations.

Thanks for letting the public know that we have another choice for health care in addition to the ER and our primary care givers. Good article.

Doctors Express is a great place for quick and efficient service. The place is clean, has fine doctors there by the name of Dr. Erwin Aldana and Dr. Janet Little. They are kind, caring and the place is spotless clean. A good place to go when not feeling well on the weekends, holidays and if your own primary doctor cannot see you. The medical assistants are very knowledgeable and compassionate. Doctors Express in Pikesville has added a fine female doctor Her name is Dr. Foster and she is kind, caring, smiling, knowledgeable and eager to take care of you. Also, medical assistant Amanda White is a delightful team member and assists the patient before you see the doctor. I had an ailing right knee and got there 9 30 AM on a Saturday morning and saw Dr. Foster and Amanda did 3 knee x-rays and I was out in less than eighty minutes carrying my CD of my x-rays. At 5 PM, Amanda called and said the radiologist had read the x-ray and faxed me the report. What more could one ask? This is a great place to go to, to be seen,be diagnosed and even get a x-ray and the report all before the day was over. I could not believe I had the written report of the radiologist in my hands way before dinner. I was able to try and go eat Saturday night dinner in a restaurant because I was assured of the test results that day. I highly recommend Doctors Express in Pikesville with Dr. Foster, Dr. Aldano and Amanda White taking care of you. Elita Sohmer Clayman Pikesville, Md.

We visited this location on 11/23. We were unhappy with the level of care that was provided for our son. He had a sever cough and a mild fever. The physician that saw us did not administer a Strep test but instead briefly looked at him and prescribed Robitussin DM and a children's allegra. We are from GA and we paid out of pocket for the visit ($138) - After no real improvement in our son's symptoms, we returned home and took him to his pediatrician who diagnosed him with Strep and a minor ear infection. I feel like if he were tested for strep at our visit to Doctor's Express, he would have not developed the ear infection and would be better by now. BTW after taking the antibiotic for a day or so, our son is doing well. We will not be returning to this location in the future.
