Couture Moda: What to Wear for Valentine's Day

Heading to the Power Plant at Baltimore's Inner Harbor, or to a club or lounge in Washington D.C. for Valentine's Day?

Then women should choose a look that's vibrant: A look that dares to be a little sexy, said Matty Vazgiel, owner of boutique in Pikesville.

"Valentine's Day is a day that the women feel more sensual," he said. "It's more about the women than it is for the men. It's your special day."

Matty selects his featured Valentine's Day item: A short, red print dress with long sleeves by Savee Couture.

"This year, people are getting into a more romantic look and vibrant colors marked with red," he said.

He suggests wearing the dress during this holiday with peep-toe pumps that have a stiletto heel. "It's going to be a very mature, very sexy look."

That same dress can be worn later as a tunic, for a casual evening out, by pulling out some stylish leggings or high boots.

However, if dinner at or elsewhere is on your sweetheart's mind this holiday, Matty suggests one of the long dresses by Sky. They're available in vibrant colors and can be worn with flats or heels.

For men, he has pink or red button-up shirts with flip-out cuffs. The cuffs have a nice, print fabric underneath.

Pair one of these stylish shirts with straight leg jeans for the perfect Valentine's Day look, Vazgiel said.

When he suggests items, his fashion-savvy customers listen. That's because he's been working in fashion since 1989, when he came to Baltimore from Israel.

Eventually, he ventured out on his own, opening Couture Moda about eight years ago in Towson.

Later, he moved the store to downtown Pikesville. But since last year, it's been located in Suite 150 at .

His store features high-end fashions popular with celebrities in Los Angeles, Miami Beach and Soho in New York. And every week there's something new, he said.

It caters to people ages 25 and older. Women's sizes are from extra small to extra large. And men's are up to 4X, he said.

If you're looking for a Valentine's Day gift for a special woman, then Couture Moda is the place.

There, you can find fox-fur embellished boots by Australia Luxe—and they're very popular, he said. They're appropriate to wear during any season except summer, he said.

On Fridays, the store offers wine and vodka tastings from 5 p.m. while you shop, Vazgiel said.
