Court of Appeals Rules Against Cemetery Development

A 1913 covenant requires Druid Ridge Cemetery to be operated as a cemetery, the state's highest court ruled.

The Maryland Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of residents opposing development at a Pikesville cemetery.

The Baltimore Sun reports the state's highest court ruled last month that a 1913 covenant required the Druid Ridge Cemetery's 200 acres to be operated as a cemetery.

A group had hoped to build 56 homes on space there that did not contain graves, according to the report.
