Chipotle to Open April 12

Spokeswoman says Pikesville's new restaurant will most likely open April 12.

Chipotle spokeswoman Katherine Smith told Pikesville Patch today that its will open April 12.

The hours will be 11 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.

"We will call [Patch and other media] to reconfirm that date, but as of now, it opens April 12," said Smith, who is from the company's Bethesda office.

These days, the popular national restaurant chain gives away a lot of food, and is involved in the community, she said.

For example, "we will show up with burritos for a local school board meeting," she said.

A news release is coming soon, she said.

Anyone who has eaten at Chipotle knows their popular made-to-order burritos are large. The Chipotle website offers the following description: "It's not just a burrito. It's a foil-wrapped, hand-crafted, local-farm-supporting, food-culture-changing cylinder of deliciousness."

The website also mentions its burrito-ordering iPhone app, and there is a place to order online.

I've had their burritos in Morgantown, WV, and was impressed with all the choices of burrito veggies you can order.

Head out to one of the nearby restaurants, several within about seven miles or less of Pikesville, to test what the fuss is all about. Click here to find the addresses in Timonium, downtown and Towson, among others.
