Catch the Produce, Goods at Don's Before Season Ends

Don's Produce is located on the back lot of The Shops at Stevenson Village and is open through October.

Tomatoes. Cider. Peppers. Preserves. Don’s Produce is in the perfect place to bring local foods to the towns of Pikesville and Stevenson.

Don and Aileen Kress have owned Don’s since 2001—setting up in various locations.

Now it's located on the back lot of The Shops at Stevenson Village, 10421 Stevenson Road. This market gives new meaning to sustainability and buying local.

“Don goes directly to the [local] farms to purchase produce and other products," said Irene Pavsner, manager.

Loyal customers don’t care about the mercury on the thermometer when it comes to preparing a fresh dish bought from Don’s.

This is the epitome of a roadside stand that we’ve seen while taking a Sunday drive through the country—but with plenty of parking and the amenities of a village atmosphere.

Walk around to the entrance to the stand and you may want to buy one of everything: broccoli, squash, apples, grapes, peaches, cherries and more. Oh, and I should mention that there are salad dressings and honey made by McCutcheon’s, which is located in Frederick, MD.

And for the locals planning a seafood dinner, Don's is the place. The stand sells some of the best crabmeat and shrimp in the area. Maryland seafood is known the country over as some of the best seafood to be found—grilled, broiled or fried.

Buying local is not only cost-effective and good for the environment (reducing the carbon footprint), but the fruits and vegetables are tastier, fresher and more nutritious.

Take a break and stroll over to the Shops at Stevenson Village and drop by Don’s Produce—on the back lot. There’s plenty to sample and buy!

The stand’s hours are: 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The last day of operation for this season is coming up—they close after Halloween.

So there’s still time to enjoy the local produce, buy some apple cider and grab a pound of fresh crabmeat before Don’s Produce closes for the season.
