The Sun: Baltimore Jewish Times Needs Buyer in 10 Days

The Jewish Times will publish this week, but as for its future, its publisher says they are focused on keeping it running, according to an article in The Baltimore Sun.

The Baltimore Jewish Times has been a part of the Baltimore area community, including Pikesville, for 93 years.

During that time, it hasn't missed an issue, according to The Baltimore Sun article: "Jewish Times will publish next week, then future uncertain."

But its future may be uncertain after a judge on Friday ordered that its parent company's assets be liquidated, according to articles in The Sun and The Baltimore Jewish Times.

"The Baltimore Jewish Times ... will be in mailboxes and on newsstands at the end of next week ... ," a Sunday article in The Sun states.

"But unless a new owner takes over the paper by Friday, the niche publication may never again be delivered or available for purchase in stores," the article states.

The Jewish Times publishes each Friday.

However, a breaking news article "Baltimore Jewish Times: Baruch Hashem, We're Still Here!" published Saturday by Jewish Times, says it's still viable.

"Now, more than ever, the company is asking the community to rally around the JT, one of the oldest and most highly respected Jewish publications in the country," the article states.

"Alter has sufficient funds and receivables on the books to pay essential expenses and continue publishing while the trustee quickly arranges a sale to one of several potential buyers standing ready to acquire the company," it states.
