10 Ways to Celebrate National Sandwich Month in Baltimore County

August is National Sandwich Month. Of course, Baltimoreans don't need some marketing gimmick to inspire sandwich greatness, but why not take this opportunity to point out some of the best. Here are 10 places in Baltimore County where you can enjoy something special between two slices of bread.

1. Chaps Pit Beef, 5801 Pulaski Hwy, Baltimore; 410-483-2379
   Open daily at 10:30 a.m. till 10 p.m. on Sundays through Thursdays, till midnight on Fridays and Saturdays
   This Baltimore barbecue restaurant is known for its pit beef sandwiches, which were featured on the Travel Channel's "Man vs. Food" and the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives."
   
2. Cannella's Italian Deli, 9611 Belair Rd., Perry Hall; 410-248-3288
   Open Mondays through Saturdays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
   With a 96 percent rating on food review site Urbanspoon, this deli prides itself in its subs. Cannella's also offers catering and says that its "Italian Super Sub" is "by far the most popular selection," according to its menu.
3. Duesenberg's American Cafe and Grill, 10 Mellor Ave., Catonsville; 410-747-7333
   Open Mondays through Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
   This American cafe and grill serves a variety of burgers and sandwiches. Try the reuben sandwiches that include sauerkraut, melted Swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing on grilled rye bread.

   Try this bagel shop's popular smoked salmon bagel sandwich, an employee said. Also, many customer reviews on various sites, such as Google+ and Urbanspoon, are positive.

   This pit beef stand, a local favorite, offers smoked pit turkeys and hams, BBQ baby back ribs, Italian sausage, sandwiches, wings, burgers, hot dogs and a variety of other entrees and side dishes.
