Group Plans To Protest 'Racist Del. Pat McDonough'

Middle River Republican's comments about "black youth mobs" in the city and his involvement in a referendum opposing tuition for some illegal immigrants draws criticism.

Del. Pat McDonough's involvement in a referendum opposing in-state tuition for some illegal immigrants, and his comments about "" in Baltimore City, have made the Middle River Republican the focus of a protest this weekend.

Answer Coalition is planning to "protest racist Del. Pat McDonough" at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday outside the studios of WCBM Radio in Pikesville. McDonough hosts a show on the station that airs that same evening.

Representatives of the Answer Coalition were not immediately available.

McDonough was also not immediately available for comment.

In an email, the group cites McDonough's involvement in an effort to force a state law granting in-state college tuition to some illegal immigrants, and statements about youth violence in the Inner Harbor area of Baltimore City, as the reason for the protest.

"Del. McDonough’s racist and belligerent comments have garnered lots of anger among anti-racist and progressive people," the group said in an emailed statement. "And while McDonough and his supporters have denied all racist accusations, these recent comments reflect a consistent pattern of blatantly racist views toward people of color, particularly against the Latino immigrant community."

The protest is part of the group's "Defend the Maryland DREAM Act Campaign," according to the email.

This is not the first time the group has been involved in local issues.

In 2010, the group issued a statement calling for the disbandment of Shomrim, a Jewish neighborhood watch group, and the prosecution of Avi and Eliyahu Werdesheim, brothers charged in the beating of 16-year-old .

The delegate is right on in his comments about the black youth mobs in Baltimore City and should be applauded for making them. Myself personally find it racist when these same individuals feel that we should all just keep our mouths shut and be politically correct all the time. I also oppose any referendum that would give in-state tuition to illegal immigrants, no matter when or how they came here.
Lady June 21, 2012 at 02:14 pm
I agree on both counts John.
michelle June 21, 2012 at 03:06 pm
I agree with what you said also. It seems to me that when ever someone other than a white person does not get their way they raise the racist card. If you don't like it, leave the US and go back to your home country.

John Clark and Michelle . . . right on!!!! Well said.

There's no doubt in my mind that McDonough is a racist, but ANSWER is a bunch of Stalinist nutjobs. So I guess McDonough is the lesser of two evils.
Able Baker June 21, 2012 at 06:40 pm
That's utter nonsense. You appear to know less about math than you do about the definitions of words.
Buck Harmon June 21, 2012 at 07:09 pm
Unauthorized entry into the US is a crime.
If you enter the US without proper authorization you are a criminal. I do not want foreign criminals in my country...period... nothing racist about that.. show me the green card...
Buzz Beeler June 21, 2012 at 07:57 pm
Buck, as always right on target. It seems that when FOX broke the Fast and Furious scandal everyone poo pawed it. Now AG Holder is on the hot seat. At least while on the hot seat he won't have a lot of time to spend in a courtroom suing U.S. states.
Steve June 21, 2012 at 08:00 pm
50% of the undocumented visitors didn't enter the US without authorization. They are simply visa overstayers.
Steve June 21, 2012 at 08:01 pm
CBS broke the "Fast and Furious" not Fox.
Buck Harmon June 21, 2012 at 08:11 pm
Not sure how to document 50% accurately but if they overstay their legal allotted time they become foreign criminals in my book....and what about the other perceived 50 %?
That's a hell of a lot of foreign criminals milking our US taxpayer coffers...
Buzz Beeler June 21, 2012 at 08:14 pm
Interesting. As I remember correctly you poo pawed the entire incident claiming FOX was string up a lot of nothing and the story was not credible. You do remember don't you?
Actually it was a blogger who broke the story and FOX that stayed on top of it. http://azstarnet.com/news/blogs/senor-reporter/the-blogger-who-broke-fast-and-furious-prepares-for-us/article_5c3e9692-19f4-11e1-a38c-001cc4c03286.html
Steve June 21, 2012 at 08:19 pm
wrong. It was Sheryl Atkinson of CBS that broke the story and CBS stayed on top of it. She won an award for it just last week.

Good research. My question would be did the blogger break the story and CBS pick it up and run with it?
Either way it won't matter in the courts because of the length of time it takes to get it there. I might be a factor in the court of public opinion.
Steve June 21, 2012 at 09:06 pm
Do you have any idea who the blogger is that you referenced? He sits at home and collects a welfare check all the while running a blog about overthrowing the Government and killing cops and elected officials. He's on every hate group watch list out there......
Buzz Beeler June 21, 2012 at 10:27 pm
Steve, I didn't say I like the guy. I only researched the question. How am I suppose to impact who wrote what? If I mention that Stalin lead Russia during WW II does that mean I support one of the greatest mass murders in history.
I report the facts I don't make them. Even when I do a blog it starts off as a piece of information which the writer makes a decision on whether or not to pursue the story.

These protesters are beating a dead horse. They just want to feel like THEY are hero's, and they are saving the day! However I think Mcdonough might be marked as a racist which probably kills his minority support. Oh politics, what a bunch of WORTHLESS MALARKEY.
amark June 22, 2012 at 12:58 am
If they are critical of Obama on their website, that would probably make them racist by their understanding of the term. Those who criticize Obama are constantly accused of racism by the left because they have no other defense of their president to offer. Just like there is no way to justify in state tuition for illegals, so those who oppose it are called racists. The race card is one of the oldest tactics there is and hurts those who are victims of real racism.
Buck Harmon June 22, 2012 at 01:06 am
Are the black human beings that criticize Obama considered racist because he is half white..?

Still confused that many in the MSM have indicated - we need an open discussion on race. So the delegate starts the discussion. Although being called a racist, the facts of his comments have never been challenged by any of those accusers.
Were there significant problems created by black youths? Yes. Is Baltimore consistently in the top 10 in most dangerous cities? Yes Do most urban cities have black poltical establishments running their cities? Yes Do BMore city and most urban areas spend a significant amount of money per public school student and have these amounts increased significantly over time? Yes Have these schools educated students to do well after high school? No In order to move forward, these things must be openly discussed. OBama and other black leaders had a great opportunity to change the culture. They could have demanded - pull your pants up, stop wearing the wife beater T-Shirt and hat to the side. Learn to speak well and treat people with respect and you have a chance to do well. Instead, they focused on keeping them down in order to assure their vote. Hopefully, a black leader can emerge that can pull them up. Until then, expect more of this.

We are in the advanced stages of technology and the old hippy style protesters is passe waste of time union money etc..! Personal appearance protesting has proven worthless. Look at the reputation of the wall street protester Chanting over and over Wow your on TV Big deal and wasted some of your 15 min of fame... Most intelligent will use the power of the pen (PC).. Intelligent debate, Common Sense and reasoning to voice opinions, just standing around chanting up to 4 or 5 words. Oh SNAP Go have a party enjoy yourselves I cant believe I tried educate ......................

The Mayor ignored Fat Pat and made him look really, really politically impotent.
Joe June 22, 2012 at 02:31 pm
Better question is, "How many of the protesters know and understand why their protesting?"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXZRBJYX__E
Tim June 22, 2012 at 03:25 pm
The mayor's the only one impotent around here. She can start talking when she's got control of her own city.
BlueStarMom June 22, 2012 at 08:37 pm
Or stops stealing from it Tim, good point.
Stop joining groups just because they use the word racism. Learn who they are. They support Palestine and if you all haven't noticed, killing our citizens outright just made up bond. Destroying us with fighting between ourselves = divide and conquer. BLINDLY follow and you may be walking into the fire. Just a thought.
Hans-Adam III, Prince of Liechtenstein June 23, 2012 at 12:12 am
The race card is easily played the weak, shallow and insipid.
LT guy June 23, 2012 at 05:06 am
I wonder if the Answer Coalition will be protesting against Democratic Sen. Jim Brochin too. He made essentially the same point as Del. McDonough: http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2012/06/05/md-sen-jim-brochin-calls-for-increased-security-at-inner-harbor/

After the first time I was pummeled for not giving "them" my money quickly enough, I brushed it off as an anomaly. I continued to proudly take out of state visitors to HarborPlace. The next time it occurred at knife point.
There is NO way that I will visit it again, nor will I expose my friends and family to such a threat.
