UPDATE: Bus, Pickup Crash During Rush Hour; One Dead, 8 Patients

A pickup truck collided with a bus at Parallel and Woodlawn drives this evening, killing one person and sending eight bus passengers to hospitals.

Members of the Baltimore County police and fire departments are on the scene at 5:48 p.m., according to a tweet by Baltimore County Public Safety.

"Police & Fire working fatal accident involving a bus and truck ... Multiple patients," it states. The Baltimore County Police Department's crash team will investigate.

Parallel Drive serves the Social Security Administration campus.

At 5:18 p.m., police and fire personnel found that a pickup truck and an MTA bus had collided head-on at that site, according to a news release sent at 6:34 p.m. Wednesday.

"The adult male driver of the pickup truck was declared deceased at the scene," the release states.  "The adult male driver of the MTA bus sustained serious injuries and was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center."

There were eight passengers on the bus, and they were taken to hospitals "to be checked out," it states. Meanwhile, Woodlawn Drive is closed between Security Boulevard and Parallel Drive.
