On Tuesday, April 23, 2013, restaurants across the U.S. and Canada will join together in donating 10% of their gross revenue to American Friends of Meir Panim. This nonprofit organization supports programs in Israel that provide daily hot, nourishing meals and social services to thousands of children and adults across Israel. Meir Panim helps a broad range of Israeli citizens, from Holocaust survivors and victims of terror to new immigrants.

This innovative project, now in its ninth year, was initiated by students of Yeshivat Rambam, and is now spearheaded by students at Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School, in collaboration with high school students across North America. Through their dedication the program has grown from a local initiative to a world-wide success… last year we raised over $10,000 and with your help we will exceed that amount this year!

This is a fantastic opportunity to help support both your fellow Jews in Israel and your local kosher restaurants, all while simply eating out! Grab a bagel for breakfast; order in lunch at the office; take your family to a delicious dinner and know that you are helping Meir Panim feed the hungry!

Deborah Brown, Project Director of Meir Panim, loves the project: “It’s wonderful to see students with such love and passion for Israel and its people. They really have made it their mission to drive the project forward to help as many impoverished individuals as possible.”

This year, we are thrilled to announce that at this time nearly all of Baltimore’s kosher restaurants are taking part in this event! Every participant makes a difference. We look forward to seeing many “I Ate for Israel Today” stickers around Baltimore this year on April 23rd!
