It's Getting Hot: Temperature To Rise this Week; Verdict Protests Arise in Baltimore

Here are five things you should know this week, including information on the man missing from Woodlawn; jury verdict protests in Trayvon Martin's death, and where you can promote your band's news.

1. Clarence Tipton, the man who never returned to his Woodlawn home after walking to a deli July 6, is still missing. Please keep a lookout for him, because his family is very worried. His sister Ida Amhauser of Baltimore says the family and police have looked everywhere they think he might be. "My whole being is numb," she said. I've attached a photo of him to this article, and I've posted a map so you can see where he had planned to go that day. I'll post the interview with her as soon as possible.

2. There were some protests in Baltimore over the Florida jury's not-guilty verdict in George Zimmerman's trial regarding the death of Trayvon Martin. We've put a story together about the protests, and you can voice your own opinion as well.

3. It's hot outside, and we're in for more this week. It's 2:10 p.m. Monday, and it's reached the high of 95 degrees, according to the National Weather Service forecast for ZIP code 21208. That's a heat index of 101, by the way. What does your thermometer say? We're in for 95-degree highs Tuesday and Wednesday as well, with only a slight chance of rain and thunderstorms Wednesday night, according to the forecast. Here's some advice from the Maryland Department of Emergency Management: Once temperature reaches the high 90s, fans aren't enough to keep you safe. You must find air conditioning, or take a cool bath.

4. Tickets are on sale for The Friends of the Israel Defense Force's Summer Ball this weekend. It's at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Woodholme Country Club. I've been to their events. They're fun, well planned, and I'm guessing it will be well worth the $40. Proceeds go to help fund programs that benefit the IDF.

5. Are you a musician or vocalist? Have a music event to promote? Pikesville Patch's new comments board "Sound Wave" is where you can post gigs, links to music videos and more. Here's where you can get noticed: Post on Sound Wave.
