Jilly's in Pikesville has an amateur comedy night each Thursday;
there's a new beer in the house: Goose Island 312, as well as dinner specials. On Tuesday nights there's either a New York strip steak dinner or full rack of ribs dinner, each for $14.95. Awkward. The Daily Meal released its 101 best food trucks, and not one Baltimore-based food truck is on it, The Baltimore Business Journal says.

Pratt Street Farmer's Market Finally Debuted
The farmer's market originally scheduled for last Thursday but was postponed due to weather kicked off Thursday, June 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to the Baltimore Sun. Every Thursday from now until September 26, enjoy fresh fruits, veggies, baked goods and more at the newest Farmers Market in Downtown, located at Pratt and Light Plaza, outside of the Transamerica building.

The Chesapeake Opened Monday
A new restaurant called The Chesapeake opened Monday in Charles North, where the old Chesapeake Restaurant closed more than 20 years ago, according to the Baltimore Sun. Featuring regional recipes, classic cocktails, local craft beers and a raw bar with rotating seasonal selections, the restaurant will be open for dinner seven nights a week and for Sunday brunch.

Dragon Boat Race Gathering This Saturday

Enjoy Baltimore's food trucks, beer, wine and drink specials while you cheer on the dragon boat races at Under Armour Headquarters (1010 Hull Street in Locust Point) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Summer Food Service Program Kicks Off
Starting June 17, more than 770,000 breakfasts and lunches will be served in 483 sites to Baltimore children ages 18 and under, as part of the 7th annual food service program, created by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and city officials and funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, AFRO reports. Parents who are interested in signing their child up for the program, or who want more information on locations, can visit www.youthbmore.org or call 211.

Della Notte in Little Italy Closed Saturday
The Italian restaurant closed over the weekend, with no reason given. "Julio opened Della Notte, which was known for its opulent decor and extensive wine list, in 1997 in a space formerly know at DiVivo's," according to the Baltimore Sun.

Hampden’s Breathe Books Opens Café
Breathe Books (810 W. 36th Street)
 has expanded the business to include a café. The new Breathe Books Cafédebuted on Friday, and now offers vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and Ayurvedic sweets, savories and soups, according to an email from owner Susan Weis-Bohlen. The store also offers organic coffee, tea and fresh juice.

Ice Cream Store Opening in Mid-July in Hampden
The ice cream parlor called The Charmery (801 W. 36th Street) will open by mid-July, according to Bmore Media. Enjoy 16 flavors of ice cream made onsite, waffle cones and a dipping station. Owners David and Laura Alima are applying for an outdoor seating license for the 15-seat shop.

Michael's Cafe Opening Federal Hill Location By Spring 2014

The owners of Michael's Cafe in Timonium plan to add a Federal Hill location with a "slightly different concept" by spring 2014, according to the Baltimore Sun. The existing cafe will remain fully operational.

County Officials Look To Cook Up Food Truck Regulations
The Baltimore County Planning Board is scheduled to hold a public hearing on possible changes to county laws related to the mobile food stands. Currently, the trucks are allowed to operate within 100 feet of an existing restaurant.  The Planning Board could discuss tripling that boundary. There is no bill before the County Council.

'Gingerroot' to 'Ciderberry': Making Mead, Cider In Monkton
At Millstone Cellars (2029 Monkton Road), Kyle Sherrer and his father Curt are making cider and mead the old-school way; fermenting locally-sourced, heirloom fruits and honeys into tasty libations. The tasting room is open from noon to 6 p.m. Saturdays, and for those who don't want to make the trip check their website to see where you can find their ciders and meads near you.
