In celebration of its 15th anniversary, the American Visionary Art Museum will explore just "What Makes Us Smile?" The exhibit will be curated by Matt Groening, master humorist and creator of The Simpsons; artist Gary Panter, and AVAM Founder Rebecca Hoffberger. Themes are smiling, laughter and humor, shown through the works of dozens of artists, including comedian Michael Baldwin's vintage toy assemblages, and a 7,000-toothbrush welcome mat that uses bristles and color to invite a 'SMILE' from all who enter. The exhibit will run through Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011.
