'Evening of Sephardic Music' to Feature Pikesville Musician

Adat Chaim invites the community to a special Evening of Sephardic Music at 7:30 on Saturday, February 11th, according to a news release.

"The evening will showcase the wonderful guitar and voice of Rabbi Shuviel Ma’aravi, accompanied by Joshua Polak on the mandola," the release states.

To start off the program, there will be a traditional Havdalah service, along with melodies, marking the conclusion of Shabbat.

There will be light refreshments.

Performers include vocalist Rabbi Ma’aravi, of Baltimore, accompanied by Joshua Polak on the mandola.

Polak is a performer and the proprietor of .

"Ma'aravi received his rabbinical ordination from Rabbi Nechemia Goldberg and formerly served as the rabbi of Etz Chaim Sephardic Congregation in Indianapolis, Indiana," the release states.

He's been interested in folk music of the Sephardic community since he was young.

He is also interested in the "strong tradition of spiritual music among the Chassidim," it states.

His goal and activities are focused on "making prayer and Torah study more accessible to those seeking a spiritual path," it states.
